The designs
What is RobinDuWeb?
RobinDuWeb builds and rebuilds websites for freelancers, small businesses, associations and practices in Belgium, then hosts them in the European Union. Clients see their website finished, in three designs, before paying anything, and then edit it themselves.
How does a RobinDuWeb proposal work?
RobinDuWeb starts from your current website or, if you don't have one yet, from a short conversation and your own text and photos. From there we prepare three different designs. You get a private link and a code to compare them, leave comments and choose the one you prefer.
I don't have a website yet. Is this for me too?
Yes, RobinDuWeb builds first websites too. Tick "I don't have a website yet" in the form. We start with a short conversation about what you do, then you send us your text and photos. You then get three designs of your future site, just as with a redesign. It's free, there's no obligation, and you only pay once you've chosen.
How long does it take to receive my designs?
RobinDuWeb usually sends the three designs within a few days. Because each set is prepared individually, we only take on a limited number every week.
Do I need to provide text or photos to get a proposal?
If you already have a website, no: RobinDuWeb reuses the text and photos on it, and all you need to give us is its address. If you don't have one yet, yes: after a short conversation, you send us your text and photos and we work from those.
Can I look at the designs on my phone?
Yes. The private link RobinDuWeb sends you lets you view each design on a laptop, a tablet and a phone, in every language your site uses.
How do I give feedback on a design?
On the private link RobinDuWeb sends you, you pin a comment on the exact spot of the page you want to talk about. You can also correct any text directly by clicking on it.
What if I don't like any of the three designs?
Then you owe RobinDuWeb nothing. You only pay after choosing a design.
Pricing
How much does a RobinDuWeb website cost?
RobinDuWeb's designs are free. If you choose one, you pay a one-off amount for the build, then a monthly fee for hosting and ongoing care. The price depends on your site, which is why it isn't published: you receive it with your designs, before you commit to anything.
Why is RobinDuWeb cheaper than a WordPress agency?
RobinDuWeb sites are built in advance, without WordPress or plugins, so there are no plugin updates to bill for and no theme or plugin licences to pay. The pages are so light that one small server hosts around twenty sites, which keeps the monthly fee low.
Are there any hidden costs?
No. With RobinDuWeb you pay a one-off amount for the build, then a monthly fee, with no hidden costs and no exit fee.
Are small changes included?
Yes. With RobinDuWeb, small content changes you can't make yourself are included in the monthly fee.
Once your site is live
Can I edit my RobinDuWeb website myself?
Yes. The RobinDuWeb editor lets you change your text, photos, opening hours and news without any technical knowledge. It's available in English, French and Dutch.
Can my website be in more than one language?
Yes. RobinDuWeb websites can be published in English, French and Dutch, with every page having its own version in each language.
Where do messages from my contact form go?
With RobinDuWeb, messages sent through your form arrive in your inbox. They're also kept in the editor's "Messages" tab, where you can export them.
Will I lose my search ranking when I switch websites?
No, because RobinDuWeb redirects your old addresses to the new pages. Every page also gets a title and description in each language, and the sitemap is submitted to search engines.
Can several people manage the website?
Yes. With RobinDuWeb, each person who manages the site has their own account, protected by a password and by a code sent by email each time they log in.
Hosting and privacy
Where are RobinDuWeb websites hosted?
RobinDuWeb websites are hosted in the European Union. They're backed up every hour, we test that those backups restore, and the HTTPS certificate is installed automatically.
Do I need a cookie banner on my website?
Not for visitor statistics, because RobinDuWeb's statistics work without cookies. However, if you add an outside service yourself that sets cookies, such as an embedded video, a banner may become necessary.
How is the form protected against bots?
RobinDuWeb uses its own anti-bot check, a small game with two cards, without Google or any other third-party service. Answers to the game and pointer movements are recorded to improve the check, but the IP address is not stored in readable form.
If you leave
What happens if I leave RobinDuWeb?
Your domain name stays yours, and you take your text, your photos and the messages from your contact form with you. You can export your messages from the editor; everything else is handed over on request, with no exit fee.
Do I own my domain name?
Yes. With RobinDuWeb, your domain name stays yours and your website is published on it. If you leave, you keep it.
