A lightweight website loads only what it needs

Every file a page downloads keeps your visitors waiting on their phones, and costs something to host. So we've been strict about it. Here is what a RobinDuWeb page contains, and what it doesn't.

What we load

  • A page built in advance

Your pages are built once, when you publish them, then sent as they are to every visitor. The server has nothing to work out on the fly.

  • 5 to 15 KB of code

A page's code (its structure, its styling and its few scripts) usually comes to between 5 and 15 KB once compressed.

  • Photos at the right size

Each photo is cropped and compressed for every screen size, in WebP format. A phone gets an image made for its screen, not the one meant for a large desktop monitor.

What we leave out

  • No WordPress

There's no software to update and no database to query on every visit.

  • No plugins

No plugin adds its own files to your pages, and none can open up a security hole.

  • No outside analytics tool

Our visitor statistics work without cookies and without any third-party script.

  • No Google anti-bot check

Your form is protected by our own small card game, which doesn't rely on any outside service.

How we measure

When we say a page weighs 5 to 15 KB, we mean the page's code as it travels over the network, in other words compressed. Photos aren't included in that figure: their weight depends on the screen showing them and on how many photos you choose to use.

Check it yourself

Open a page in your browser, right-click, choose "Inspect" and then the "Network" tab. Reload the page: the "Transferred" column shows the size of each file. Do the same on your current website, if you have one, or on a competitor's, and compare.

What you get out of it

  • A site that loads quickly

A light page opens fast, even on a phone with a weak signal. Your visitors find your opening hours before they run out of patience.

  • A cheaper monthly fee

Because the pages are so small, the monthly price can stay low.

  • Fewer things that can break

With no plugins or software to update, there are far fewer moving parts that can fail or be attacked.
